Giant Moas were fabulous
creatures of New Zealand prior to Polynesian settlement. These unique flightless birds were hunted to extinction by the 1400's. MOTA MOAS is a charmingly playful portrait of two Moas out motoring,1920's style. The piece is aimed at late primary to early high school students and focuses on detaché and staccato strokes. It sits well in first position, is in D major and extends the 1st violins with a ragtime break at the end. A musical treat for all!
