In the year 1700, on the Island of Mauritius, the Last Dodo danced The Last Waltz. Valse Triste (Dodo’s Last Waltz) is a musical tribute in B minor to the now extinct Dodo; a sweet, reflective and musically balanced waltz – tuneful and interesting for all players. The cello sings a soulful, sustained line in the main. The lyrical first violin part may be played in first position, though it lends itself well to 3 rd position in places for more advanced players. Inner players enjoy an assortment of melody, harmony and rhythm. |
