| Having worked with these scores and kids for many years I have found it helpful to introduce each piece in certain ways that help to understand the background of the music and its setting as well as inspire the imagination and enthusiasm of the kids. On this page are some suggestions that you may find helpful starting points. The pictures below can help to set the mood of this piece. - Keith Sharp | ||

| About SOUL TO KEEP | ||
Soul to Keep, in spiritual / gospel song-style, is presented for easy 3 - part string ensemble in the key of D major. Viola 1 and 2 parts are included and are transpositions of the Violin 2 and Cello lines.The colourful and musically engaging background created by the piano accompaniment is required for performance. There is repetition in the string parts and use of echo-answer. Young players will enjoy singing the words in class! |

| "Now I lay me down to sleep I pray the Lord my soul to keep." "Time to rest this weary head and pray the Lord my soul to keep" |
||
